Care | Mercy Request Form

This form is specifically for those who's need has gone beyond what the community group is able to help with. We will consider each of these cases carefully, striving to be prayerful & wise, stewarding well all that the Lord has entrusted to Redeemer.

This form is to be filled out by anyone requesting financial help/care from Redeemer. It must be filled out and turned in to the proper staff member before any consideration of help may be given. Redeemer and our benevolence policy exists not only to provide services, but also to bring glory to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Please read carefully and check the box if you understand and agree to the following:
1) We view the word “benevolence” as an act of kindness and generosity intended to address the needs of the vulnerable and distressed and is specifically intended to assist with things considered essential to "life-threatening" and "life hindering" situations. It is important to realize that benevolence is intended to help those in extreme financial distress and is not merely a matter of financial assistance for any and every situation. This reflects the heart of pure religion described in James 1:27: "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction..." Our goal is to show Christ's compassion through temporary, discerning help that points to lasting hope in Him.
2) Benevolence at Redeemer is viewed as an opportunity to proclaim the love of God and may take the form of a financial gift, but could also include other approaches such as financial coaching.
3) Filling out this form means you are agreeing to present a photo ID and to meet with a staff member personally before approval can be given. This scheduled appointment is to determine how best to serve you.
4) You agree to accurately fill out your monthly income and expense budget to the best of your ability.
5) All benevolence requests are to be paid directly to the billing company. No cash payments are given out.
6) Filling out this form does not guarantee approval of your request.
7) If you are outside of the Midland area, we ask that you first reach out to other churches for assistance before reaching out to Redeemer. We are here primarily to focus on our community.

Submit a picture of a driver's license, or other form of government ID. This is a requirement for benevolence assistance at Redeemer.

    CHURCH CONNECTION

The Bible instructs the church to show generosity to all who are in need, while giving special care to fellow believers: "So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10). Covenant Partners and regular attenders at Redeemer are part of our church family, so we prioritize assistance here first as an expression of this scriptural principle. If you are not yet connected, we still desire to help where possible and invite you to know the greater mercy of Christ.

    CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES

God calls His people to diligent work as part of His design for human flourishing, and Scripture encourages personal responsibility even in hardship: "If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat" (2 Thessalonians 3:10). We ask about employment and efforts toward self-sufficiency not to judge, but to partner with you wisely—celebrating steps you're taking and offering support (like job resources or counseling) to move toward stability.

      FAMILY SUPPORT

Scripture teaches that God has designed the family to be the primary means of care and provision in times of need. As Paul writes in 1 Timothy 5:8, "But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." This principle reflects God's good order—family members are called to support one another first, whenever possible. We ask this question not to shame anyone, but to honor this biblical pattern and ensure church assistance supplements, rather than replaces, family responsibility (see also 1 Timothy 5:4, 16). If family support is not available, we are eager to step in as the church family to help.
